Among all of SHRM's 2016 recruiting trend predictions, the common, unifying thread is a stronger focus on the candidate and with good reason. Hiring predictions are bullish over the next year and with competition for talent reaching all-time highs, strategies for recruiting should center around finding the best candidates and winning them over.
So how will you re-center your hiring strategy on the candidate in 2016?
One of the most essential trends identified by SHRM is "repairing the candidate experience" through mobile recruiting. Nine of out ten job seekers use mobile devices in their search while relatively few employers allow candidates to apply or engage with recruiters via mobile. William Tincup, CEO of HR consultancy Tincup & Co. explains that "(candidates) expect text messages and regular status updates. If you can’t do that, or worse, won’t do it, you’ve already shown yourself as someone who’s slow to the game.”
Employers shaping their 2016 talent acquisition strategy should look to simplify their hiring process for candidates, and improve the hiring experience to be more mobile-friendly. Additionally, mobile recruiting by text has proven to be one of the most effective ways to attract and engage talent. For the full article from SHRM on 2016 recruiting trends click here.
